German Army: Welcome back to Tannkosh!
We are very happy to confirm:
The German Army will also be present at Tannkosh 2010, again with a CH 53 and a Bo 105 "Swooper" from Laupheim. Both Helicopters ( homebase Laupheim Airfield, Lima Tower) have been a very welcome and familiar sight in Tannheim for ages - we even share the same simulated emergency landing sites, and Lima Radar has supported us (and all pilots in the area) for years by offering GCA-approaches and very valuable weather information (for IFR pilots in IMC and without weather radar, the experienced radar controllers have helped quite often) - and they have provided numerous vectors to Tannheim:-)
The 251st airborne transport helicopter squadron will be present during Tannkosh. The Crew welcomes interested young pilots into the cockpit and loading area of the huge CH 53, and the Bo 105 cockpit doors will also be open for visitors.
We will never forget the memorable sight of a CH 53 from Laupheim carrying the heavy load of a Starfighter F 104 - demonstrating the amazing capabilities of the CH 53 during several airshows in the past - the CH and Swooper-pilots from Laupheim are all familiar with EDMT, as neighbours, and visitors are welcome aboard the helicopters during Tannkosh!
Welcome back to Tannkosh, Gentlemen!
